A New Worship Theme: The Not-So-Secret Garden!

A task force of the Lively Arts Committee—Daniel Webster, Nel Gammon Webster, Gwen Chrzanowski, and Mike Myers worked for many hours to create an indoor garden in our sanctuary!
The worship space (always beautiful) is now enhanced by a weaving by Jan Haase, several of our UCG banners, origami birds, bench, flowerpots, hanging baskets, and a beautiful flowered arbor.
One of the joys of worship at UCG is collaboration and creativity.

As Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote in The Secret Garden, our experience of worship during this peaceful summer theme will be an open space filled with beauty and mystery. “Sometimes since I’ve been in the garden I’ve looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden – in all the places.”
