Wear Orange Storytelling Event on June 6

Wear Orange: Stories from the Front Lines of Gun Violence Prevention

WE ARE DETERMINED
WE ARE STRONG
WE ARE SURVIVORS

Join us Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 7pm in the United Church of Gainesville Sanctuary for an evening of stories by everyday people involved in the local Gun Violence Prevention movement. Powerful stories from survivors, teachers, and supporters will open your eyes to the uniquely-American crisis of gun violence that claims 40,000 victims each year.

The evening promises to bring with it strong emotions: fear & loss, certainly; but also the hope, support, and beauty of people committed to this cause. Laughter is also guaranteed.

Wear Orange is a annual weekend of events designed to bring awareness to gun violence. Orange is the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore in her honor when she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15 — just one week after performing at President Obama’s 2nd inaugural parade in 2013. After her death, they asked us to stand up, speak out, and Wear Orange to raise awareness about gun violence. For more information, visit www.wearorange.org
