Even during the Covid 19 pandemic, UCG’ers can still give the “Gift of Life.” On Sunday, April 11, the Blood Mobile will be at UCG from 9am – 1pm, taking donations on an appointment basis. They have many protocols in place to protect donors and keep them safe and healthy:
- Prospective blood donors are registered at the tent outside of the bus, set up for physical distancing.
- A donor services tech will take every prospective donor’s temp before they register. If their temp is 99.5 or lower, they are allowed to donate.
- Once a donor is registered, they will fill out their own questionnaire.
- Upon completion of the questionnaire, they will be brought into an interview room. A tech will take their vitals and go over the questions.
- Once they pass the physical, they are clear to donate.
- They operate with three chairs at a time and the two interview rooms. (5 total donors on the bus, only 3 donating at a time.)
- All blood donors must wear a mask when on the bus. If they do not have a mask, we may be able to provide one, but it is first come first serve. Please be sure to bring a mask.
- All blood donations are tested for Covid-19 antibodies.
