May Worship Theme

“Dreaming”

One of the traditional readings for Pentecost Sunday (which falls fifty days after Easter; this year on May 23) tells the story of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the followers of Jesus who are hunkered down, wondering what to do next. The people are changed, and they head out into the streets with renewed purpose. Peter the apostle stands up in front of the gathering crowd and quotes the prophet Joel: the young people will prophesy and have visions; the old will dream dreams.

Well, we, too, have been hunkering down, wondering about the future. As we begin to come out into the streets once again, as we listen for the voice of the Spirit, what visions will we cast? What dreams will we dream?  Join us in worship, in person and online, as we tell of dreams, as we watch for the presence of God and envision our future together.
