Did you know that a support group for caregivers of persons living with dementia was originally formed more than 13 years ago by three of our own church members? Lynda Everitt, Fonda Eyler, and Claudia Barrett were the visionary co-founders who created the Alzheimer’s small group with the goal of allowing everyone touched by dementia to be together in a caring environment where it is safe to express one’s feelings about the journey. The group is conducted with the support and guidance of the Alzheimer’s Association/Central and North Florida Chapter.
The group still meets (with different facilitators) but moved onto Zoom at the start of the pandemic. We are now going to return to in-person meetings at 7PM on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be at 7PM Tuesday, June 15, in the UCG library. Contact Dar Mikula, coordinator, at 352-359-4041 or email denalidar@gmail.com for more information.
Please Note: The church’s ongoing and changing Pandemic Response Guidelines will be followed at the meeting based on Alachua County’s level of transmission at that time.
