Our Family Promise Committee is gearing up for its second in-person hosting of families experiencing homelessness since the pandemic began, August 21st through the 28th. We need your help more than ever as the last hosting, we struggled tremendously to fill the more than 70 roles it takes to make this operation happen smoothly.
Family Promise of Gainesville has implemented a covid protocol to help ensure all guest and volunteers’ safety. There will be only one or two families staying at UCG, down from the 4-5 families we typically house. All guests will have obtained a negative at home COVID test before coming to UCG and any guests experiencing symptoms will be relocated to a hotel. Regardless, all volunteers and guests are required to wear masks in common areas. As always, we strongly recommend that our volunteers wear a self-protective mask and practice good social distancing measures.
We are so grateful for the efforts you may offer while signing up to participate. The Family Promise committee will have a table set up in the courtyard before and after services on August 7th, 14th, and 21st. You can also sign up at the following link:
We feel fortunate that in-person hostings have resumed, as we are better able to foster a connection with the families we serve. Thank you to all our volunteers for continuing to support the Family Promise of Gainesville families while that connection felt far off. Our friendship with them is as important now, as ever.
