CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Everything created is good! In abundant diversity, the sacred is found in us all.
ALL: We reject all messages that belittle or degrade.
One: And so in faithfulness to God and one another we proclaim:
ALL: Sacred are our bodies of every size and ability.
One: Blessed are our sexualities, drawing us toward love of many kinds.
ALL: Beloved is every gender identity, revealing you in different ways.
One: To our skin, beautiful in every shade, we say hallelujah!
ALL: We are blessed with this world and our fellow creatures, who continue to teach us that Y’all means All and All is good.
OPENING SONG – “Times They are A-Changin’”
Come gather ’round people, Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters, Around you have grown
And accept it that soon, You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’,
Then you better start swimmin’, Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come writers and critics, Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide, The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon, For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who, That it’s namin’
For the loser now, Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come senators, congressmen, Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway, Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt, Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside, And it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows, And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come mothers and fathers, Throughout the land
And don’t criticize, What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters, Are beyond your command
Your old road is Rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one, If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.
The line it is drawn, The curse it is cast
The slow one now, Will later be fast
As the present now, Will later be past
The order is Rapidly fadin’,
And the first one now, Will later be last,
For the times they are a-changin’.

One: We are an Open and Affirming community of faith!
All: Varied in gender, sexuality, expression, color and age, ethnicity, and ability, we are a widening circle, open to all, a rainbow company, affirming the splendor of our humanity.
One: Together, we serve one another and the world.
All: Encouraged and challenged, we endeavor to live in harmony and demand justice.
One: As an Open and Affirming body, we intend:
All: To welcome one another, equally and jubilantly!
One: As an Open and Affirming body, we pray:
All: Spirit of empowering pride, fill us with joy and peace in believing; that we may abound in love, advocating for and living the vision we proclaim!

Sunday Seminar – “Gender-affirming Care for All God’s Children” –Misinformation abounds when it comes to what gender-affirming care is and especially how it applies to minors. Plus, transgender issues are being weaponized politically, and such rhetoric creates more confusion and hostility around gender identities. Here we provide a safe space to explore the topic of medical care for transgender youth. Join Dr. Kristin A Dayton, M.D., a pediatric endocrinologist at UF Health specializing in gender dysphoria, to learn what gender-affirming care is and about relevant resources in the Gainesville community. Ask questions and gain some clarity about this contentious topic while gaining greater understanding. Join us at 10:30 am in Reimer Hall or via Zoom. Meeting ID: 829 6457 0385, Passcode: 1624.
NAMI Gainesville Walk Rescheduled – The NAMI walk originally scheduled for Sunday, October 2, has been rescheduled TODAY at 1 pm.
Calling all puzzle lovers – Stop by the Puzzlers’ Table in front of Seminar B on Sunday. Take home some puzzles this week, a great substitute for TV watching, and good for your brain! You can bring puzzles to swap, or not; we have plenty to share.
