October is a busy month for ONA (Open and Affirming committee) because it is Pride month in Gainesville. This year it is especially important to celebrate and advocate for our LGBTQ+ friends and family because of the unprecedented assault on their rights. We have a long history of welcoming all people regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or presentation.
Please show your support and join in our celebration by attending these events!
- Join in cheering on the Community Pride Float in UF’s Homecoming Parade on October 6 at noon which UCG and ONA are participating in with other local organizations to show support to LGBTQ+ students and families. We’d love to have lots of cheers from the crowd so please come and cheer with Pride.
- The Pride Festival at Bo Diddley Plaza is on Saturday, October 21. UCG will have a booth at the festival and will need volunteers to staff it all day. Click here to sign up.
- The UCG Pride church service is at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 22.
- The Pride seminar is at 11:15 a.m. that day.
- The Pride brunch is after the seminar. Please bring side dishes and desserts to share. Click here to sign up.
