June and July have been busy and productive for the Board of Business.
First, we have established the long-needed Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee. The members of this subcommittee are UCG members who have the breadth and depth of experience and knowledge appropriate to the job and care deeply about our church and about the campus we enjoy. Currently, the seven members of the committee are busy touring the campus, diving into the HouseMaster’s inspection report, and developing plans for future remediation and improvements. The members of the committee are Glenn Acomb, Carol Barron, Candice King, Glenn Mans, Wendy Simonson, Erick Smith and Jim White. When you see them, thank them for the work they are doing.
Second, the re-roofing project of the west campus buildings is mostly completed. The a majority of the roofing material has been installed and now we are proceeding with gutter replacement, drainage issues, including the regrading of the north playground area, more tree trimming and general cleanup. We expect the project to be completed some time in August.
Third, our finances through the first six months of the year are in good shape. However, we can’t relax now. The summer and early fall months have historically been difficult ones with regard to contributions. If you are traveling this summer, please make arrangements to continue your pledges without interruption. Also, due to the on-going issues around the pandemic, we are continuing our online services, and that has impacted our weekly plate offerings. So, while you are participating in church from home, please take the opportunity to send a check to the church for your customary plate offering.
We hope you are having a wonderful summer.
