We are moving along with building maintenance and repair. The latest HVAC unit has been installed and passed all inspections, and the showers in the education wing men’s and women’s bathrooms have been replaced! We were fortunate to have Clark Plumbing ready and available for the shower stall replacements and Dale Mayhew to complete all the trim and drywall work. We are now ready for our next Family Promise hosting which begins this month. Once again, an angel appeared in our midst and gave us a donation towards the shower replacements! You all are so good and so generous!
Phoebe Papadi is making good strides with her mission as our storage space czar! Board and committee representatives are inventorying their stored items and removing things that are no longer needed. Once that is all done, Phoebe will then create a plan for where things will be stored and create a storage system that will be more organized. One big hallelujah!
We had the campus re-keyed at the end of January. The need rose to the top of our list after we had numerous security issues with someone having access to our buildings, then proceeding to remove security cameras, and spending the night in our facilities. Please contact the office if you need new keys.
Still on our docket is the woodwork repair and we are just waiting on the vendor. We will soon be repairing the base of the cross on the stone face of Reimer Hall facing 5th Avenue. It has corroded to the extent the attachment is severely compromised and will require some re-welding.
Erick Smith has put March 23 on the calendar for a work day at the church clearing vegetation in the area north and east of the sanctuary. This is being offered as a small group, but the work day is open to anyone. The work day will be from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Wear long pants and long sleeves, bring work gloves and a water bottle, and hand pruners or loppers if you have them.
We are thrilled that the Board of Endowment has included us in the projects that they are financially supporting with their annual endowment proceeds payout. We will be receiving $2,500 for the architect’s fee for the kitchen redesign/renovation. A huge thank you!
Finally, we have had a big push to get material ready for the Capital Campaign Planning Committee. By the time you read this, you will have seen the material and voted yes or no to proceed with a feasibility study. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will move ahead with the Capital Campaign in order to have the funding for our work.
