Director of Church Operations – April 2025

Greetings from Pollensville, Florida! Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and longer days. However, my nose is not enjoying the yellowing of our current outside world. Luckily, we had a good washing on the last weekend of March. I was away in North Carolina, but I heard the youth had to help sandbag the Reimer Hall doors. Thank you, Tami and youth for your swift action to keep our campus dry.

Speaking of our campus! Has anyone noticed the pop-up garden near the southwest corner of the courtyard by the picnic tables? Or the nicely raked ground in the same area? Yes? No? Not sure? Perhaps you should come and sit a spell in our courtyard to see what you can spot. You may even see Larry Alsobrook serenely tending to our courtyard. Please thank him for his subtle gifts and a lesson on native plants of Florida.

I also can’t forget to mention our Friendship Garden as you walk into the courtyard from fifth avenue. It’s filled with pollenating flowers and guaranteed to make your day. Thank you to the Friendship Group for diligently tending this garden to greet our neighbors as they visit UCG or on their daily walk.

I have only scratched the surface of those who help improve or beautify our courtyard space. We have fountain tenders, drainage surveyors, gardeners, arborists, and so many more. Thank you!
If you are called to help with our buildings and grounds, consider joining the Campus Keepers committee. Erick Smith is the current chair or feel free to reach out to me for more information.

See you in the courtyard,

Shanna
