Food insecurity is still in our backyard. Ten years ago, UCG started the Food 4 Kids weekend backpack program to feed the neediest children in Gainesville. Sadly, as we begin our 11th year, nothing has changed for the children.

Too many are hungry and dependent on their schools for daily meals. Can you imagine how Covid has made everything so much harder for families? We gave food to children in need and hoped that the last 10 years weren’t as painful as they might have been, but it is critical that we continue to give so that children don’t suffer.

As we start our F4Ks fundraiser we hope that there will be an 11th year. It breaks our hearts that the need is still so great. Right now, the UCG team is sending home 160 bags weekly for the Rawlings children and that number continues to grow. This is our chance to share all that we have been so lucky to have. It costs $9.91 to feed a child each week. $200 will feed a child for the rest of this year. Of course, whatever you can give will help to make a difference in the life of a child.
