First things first, our major update from the Search Committee is that we’ve completed and submitted our Interim Minister Church Profile (that serves as the job posting) to the UCC! We’re so excited to be this big step closer to receiving applications.
Also this month, we held a seminar on December 1 where we were able to answer your questions about the search process and get feedback on prioritizing skills and qualities needed for an interim minister at UCG. Here are a couple of those questions and answers:
Q: How long will the interim minister be with us? A: We’ve proposed an 18-month contract with an option for an additional 6-month extension depending upon where we are in the search and call for the next settled minister.
Q: Is the interim minister auditioning for the settled minister position? A: No, the interim minister is not available as a candidate for the settled minister position.
And here were the top priorities for an interim minister that folks attending the seminar (both in person and on Zoom) identified:
– Collaborate in a supportive manner with Rev. Talia.
– Help the congregation process and heal from past conflict and minister transitions.
– Understand and embrace UCG’s spiritual and religious diversity in sermons and interactions.
– Lead worship services as a strong preacher with intellectual and spiritual depth.
We’re looking forward to the next steps of the search process. Please let us know if you have any questions!
