Kairos – March 2023

“We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.”

“The Servant Song” is one of our UCG favorite hymns for all occasions. The message is simple. Help others and have the grace to let others help us too. We are here to bear witness to each other’s lives, to show up, to share our resources, and to work side by side.  Kairos is the committee that especially tries to give legs to this idea by noticing and nurturing UCG folks in need in small ways.

We send cards, organize meals, visit and call, give rides, and support you in bereavement. We pray for you and send healing wishes in our “However Known” fashion. We can even bring you communion and celebrate that ritual with you at home if you wish!

In times of crisis or transition these small but powerful gestures can make a lot of difference in the quality of our experience. Andy’s retirement may, at least temporarily, mean less availability of professional ministerial attention as well as a personal loss for many of us. Forty-Five of us have officially signed up, but we are all Kairos members,  so let us be mindful and care for each other as we move forward on our journey together.

If you know of someone who could use some Kairos care,  please contact Sally Simonis at sallyjsimonis@gmail.com or on my cell (954) 309-2296.
