Message from Gainesville Women for Democracy

Hello from the streets! This is Pam Smith, and I am a founder and admin of Gainesville Women for Democracy. We are FOR democracy, immigrants’ rights, LBGTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, and women’s rights, but also fighting fascism and racism by supporting DEMOCRACY.  Our motto is to be FOR things, not against things. We have 2 branches—one in which we are coordinating with other groups to form coalitions, and another branch that plans street actions and community events. I, Pam, oversee that second part. I have included photos from our President’s Day gathering.

We are currently organizing an afternoon at Heartwood on Sunday, March 30 from 1 – 5 p.m.  It is called HopeFest and is to be an uplifting music and poetry event, the event will be free and will have some of our UCG musicians performing. Our Taylor Williams will be the emcee. We (the large “we”) need to be uplifted, encouraged, and forming a community. Hope to see you at HopeFest!
