Racial Justice Committee Happenings in March

The Racial Justice Committee invites you to two important events in March

Please join us at  “A Virtual Night of Healing,” March 11, 2022, 6pm-7pm, on YouTube. The theme of Black History month was Black Health and Wellness. Our committee had provided suggested readings in last month’s newsletter. Please tune in for this informative program.

 

 

You are invited to A Special Event of Truth and Reconciliation for Alachua County, City of Gainesville.  Martin Luther King Center, 1028 NE 14th Street at 10 am on Saturday, March 12.  Installation of Equal Justice Initiative Memorial Plaque for victims of racialized terror in Gainesville.

We invite members of UCG and especially those who participated in the two UCG bus trips to The National Memorial for Justice and Peace in Montgomery, Alabama in 2018 and 2020. This is the culmination of the work begun after the 2018 trip. Or join us on YouTube  As part of the morning, Quilt blocks from the Gainesville Remembrance Quilt that will be presented on March 12, 2022 at Historical Marker Dedication. Dawn Beachy has coordinated this endeavor and many members and friends of UCG have participated. 

We are also pleased to announce that Andy Bachmann will be participating with another pastor in reading the names of lynching victims from City of Gainesville as part of our Reconcilation process.
