Something of a Miracle!

Think of it, Ray Meeks was sentenced to Florida’s death row when he was about 19 years old. On June 28, Ray will be 72 years old, which in its own was is something of a miracle. All of the circumstances surrounding his arrest, trial, conviction and sentencing were absurd. He had three death warrants signed, moving him to the cell next to Florida’s electric chair at Florida State Prison in Starke, and each time he received a stay. Appeals all resulted in reaffirming his death sentence. Finally, about 6 years ago, lawyers managed to get his sentence reduced to life in prison without parole. Thus, he is, cherishing life at Madison State Correctional Institution.
