Re-Mod Squad Update

The Re-Mod Squad has been busy! Glenn Acomb has given two PowerPoint presentations on the status of the courtyard and although they were both over spring break and didn’t have as many folks present as we hoped for, we got very good feedback from those who did attend in person or by zoom. That presentation has been recorded. Click here to watch it on your own. Please send questions or comments to Glenn Acomb at acomb.glenn@gmail.com.

We are awaiting the results of the Topographical Survey. Mike Myers has installed the window screens and we have the repair/replacement of window mechanisms and window lubrication scheduled. The painting and repair of the courtyard benches and tables are nearly complete and we are so grateful for the volunteer work of Dave Kramek and Ron Hix working with Glenn Mans on that project. The solar installation is tentatively set for April 10-13. We are in the midst of reviewing estimates for our next HVAC unit servicing Reimer Hall and that may be in place by the time you read this. Energy efficiency is our priority! Carol and Liz continue plugging away at the final review of the HouseMaster’s report and Liz has begun work on the Capital Reserves Allocation Spreadsheet with the advisory help of Catherine & Sanford Berg.

Liz, with the help of her husband, John, had fun adapting this passage from Ecclesiastes for the Re-Mod Squad!

There is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every project under heaven. A time to give birth to new ideas, and a time to let old ones die, A time to plant new trees, and a time to cut trees down, A time to kill invasive vermin & plants, and a time to prune & fertilize, A time to tear out the rotten wood, and a time to re-roof and paint, A time to mourn a tree’s end of life, and a time to dance in a new courtyard, A time to throw out mulch, and a time to lay a firm foundation, A time to embrace change, and a time to hold fast to what is truly UCG, A time to search for solutions, and a time to accept what can’t be changed, A time to keep what enriches programs, and a time to clean out closets, A time to tear out bricks, and a time to re-lay them, A time to be quiet and listen, and a time to share ideas, A time to love new creations, and a time to discard what is broken or obsolete, A time for struggling over plans, and a time for pulling plans together. God has made everything appropriate in its time.

We have such a great group of folks and are so happy to be making improvements and effecting change!
