UNISON CALL TO WORSHIP

Weave my wanting threads with yours to form one cloth.
It matters not that you are silk, and I am wool.
What matters is that we touch and make each other whole.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE – Rev. Bromleigh McCleneghan

OPENING SONG – “They’ll Know We’re God’s People by Our Love” – #76 in UCG Songbook, verses 1-2, Rev. Andy Bachmann, guitar.

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord (2x)
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored.

Chorus:
And they’ll know we’re God’s people
By our love, by our love,
Yes, they’ll know we’re God’s people
By our love.

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand (2x)
And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land. (Chorus)

Something I am seeking at UCG
A talent or strength that I bring to this church
One thing I would like you to know about me

WELCOME OF NEW MEMBERS by UCG MODERATOR, Jeremy Archer

READING OF THE COMPACT:

“We join as a spiritual community in this compact:
To worship God, however known,
To welcome into our church those of differing
understanding and theological opinion,
To learn from our religious heritage, yet to
grow by seeking new dimensions of truth.
To follow, even imperfectly, the way of Jesus
in personal involvement with each other,
And, strengthened by this bond, to act in
Christian concern for the welfare of all people.”

PRAYER FOR NEW MEMBERS and a SHARED BLESSING
Please sing verses 3 and 4 of “They’ll Know We’re God’s People by Our Love”

We will work with each other; we will work side by side (x2)
And we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride. (Chorus)

All praise the Creator, from whom all things come,
And all praise to Christ Jesus who guides us on,
And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one. (Chorus)

Our Annual Noodles & Doodles Fundraiser is TODAY at 5:30 p.m. This Art Sale and Pasta Dinner Fundraiser supports our Youth United as they prepare for their summer Work Tour. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids; that includes a spaghetti dinner, salad, and dessert prepared by the youth team (gluten-free and vegan options will be available). A silent auction will run throughout the evening for amazing art, and, during dessert, we will have a live art auction with auctioneer Edo Carter on some very special pieces! Stop by Reimer Hall to get a sneak peek!

Spring Lively Arts Concert – Lively Arts invites you to attend a spring concert by the Gainesville Flute Ensemble in the Sanctuary on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public. All are welcome!

UCG Supper Club – The last supper club of the year will take place on Saturday, May 18 at Jim and Lisa McElwee-White’s home on Kanapaha Prairie. Rather than being assigned a recipe, you will be assigned a category (appetizer, salad, side or dessert) and can bring whatever you wish. We also request that you bring your own place settings and your own beverage so we only need to collect money to reimburse Jim for the meat he will barbecue (no charge for vegetarians). Please contact Anne Casella (annecasella@gmail.com, 352-256-5960) or Kimberly McCollough (kmccollough224@gmail.com, 352-378-8371) if you would like to participate. The Capital Campaign Visioning Task Force recently received the results of the capital campaign feasibility study. In short, the consultant determined that our estimated “probability of success” was 62%, which she characterized as “typical” for churches preparing for capital campaigns. The study identified several areas where additional communication and clarification would be helpful for better preparing the church for a successful campaign. The summarized results can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/UCGfeasibility.

The newly created position of Director of Communications is now posted on indeed.com. Please share this listing widely with those who may be a good fit for the role – bit.ly/ucgdocpost24.

April 26 Covid Update

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Alachua County is very low. As a result, the County no longer reports COVID virus levels in the wastewater.

These COVID updates are therefore being discontinued effective immediately. The Updates will not resume unless there is another public health threat from COVID-19 or another pathogen. If you are immune compromised and wish to remain vigilant, you may access the new case data for all Florida counties at:
