And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and for poor ones
The road is so long
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For Native and Immigrant
Let’s stop all the fight
Chorus
And so this is Christmas (w/Descant)
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so happy Christmas (w/Descant)
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones

Holy baby from heav’n above, You have come to offer us peace and love.
Join we know in a song of praise, On this happiest day of days!

“How Far is it to Bethlehem?” – Poem by Frances Chesterton, sung by Tané Dekrey, Hannah Norton, Judy Parsons
How far is it to Bethlehem?
Not very far.
Shall we find the stable-room
Lit by a star?
Can we see the little Child?
Is He within?
If we lift the wooden latch,
May we go in?
May we stroke the creatures there
Ox, ass, or sheep?
May we peep like them and see
Jesus asleep?
If we touch His tiny hand,
Will He awake?
Will He know we’ve come so far
Just for His sake?
Great kings have precious gifts,
And we have naught;
Little smiles and little tears
Are all we brought.
For all weary children
Mary must weep;
Here, on His bed of straw,
Sleep, children, sleep.
God, in His mother’s arms,
Babes in the byre,
Sleep, as they sleep who find
Their heart’s desire.
THE EIGHTH LESSON – Matthew 2 – Stan Smith, reader
“Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” –traditional, performed by the Pickers – Andy Bachmann, David Evans, Alan Hill, Jack Nettles, Ned Stewart
O’ Beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shining afar through shadows dim
Giving the light to those who long have gone
Guiding the wise men on their way
Unto the place where Jesus lay
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.
Chorus: Beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawns.
Give us the lamp to light the way
Unto the land of perfect day
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on
Beautiful Star the hope of light
Guiding the pilgrims through the night
Over the mountains till the break of dawn
Into the light of perfect day
It will give out a lovely ray
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Chorus
Beautiful Star the hope of rest
For the redeemed, the good, and blessed
Yonder in glory when the crown is won
Jesus is now that star divine
Brighter and brighter he will shine
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Chorus
THE NINTH LESSON – John 1 and Luke 2 – Jenny Hill, reader
“O Holy Night” – Adolphe Adam, sung by Adriane Isenberg
Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
‘Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn’
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels’ voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn’
Fall on your knees, oh, hear, hear the Angels’ voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us Praise His Holy name
Christ is the Lord; O praise His name forever!
His power and glory evermore proclaim
His power and glory evermore proclaim
