Reading, Scripture, Sermon, and Alleluia
Reading – “Each of us has a family tree full of stories inside of us… Each of us has a story blossoming out of us. It’s important to tell your story. It’s important to listen. Think about the word destroy. Do you know what it is? De-story. Destroy. Destory. You see. And restore. That’s re-story. Do you know that two things have been proven to help survivors of the Holocaust? Massage is one. Telling their story is another. Being touched and touching. Telling your story is touching. It sets you free.” -Francesca Lia Block, Read by Shanna Swiers
Matthew 7:24-27: Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!

Sunday Seminars – Join us this morning!
Sunday Seminar at 11:15am- Fighting Gentrification of Historically Black Neighborhoods with special guests Nkwanda Jah and Thomas Hawkins. Seminary Lane is part of a neighborhood that has been historically Black since reconstruction, and was called “The Harlem of the South” at one time. Developers plan to build luxury student apartments in the location that was promised to be for low cost housing. This case is currently being appealed by the Alliance for Equitable Development. At this seminar Nkwanda Jah, one of the plaintiffs, and Thomas Hawkins, an expert witness, will discuss this issue. Join here
Sunday Seminar at 12:30pm – Holy Zoom: A Sacred Meeting of Minds & Souls Talia Raymond will be available on our Zoom account to talk and share. She’ll be prepared to talk about the online worship experience, but with no set agenda other than hoping to see your faces and have a chance to touch base. Join here.
