WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS – Rev. Bromleigh McCleneghan

PRELUDE – “When I Grow Up” Phillip Herr-Klepacki – From Matilda: The Musical

INVOCATION – Rev. Andy Bachmann

When I grow up… I’ll be tall enough, and strong enough, and brave enough.
I’ll know all the answers and I’ll make decisions for myself…

When we are children, if we’re lucky, all things seem possible for grown-ups, and it seems inevitable that one day, we, too, will have those impossible powers.

When we are grown up, even if we’re lucky, we often long for those days when all things seemed possible. We long for the day when we might finally feel like we are enough to carry all the things we have to carry now that we’re grown up.

God of Grace and God of Glory, God of children and grown-ups, help us to remember that even if we’re little we can do a lot. Help us to know, if not all the answers, then the power of love and hope to carry us through.

OPENING SONG – “God of Grace and God of Glory”

God of grace and God of glory,
On thy people pour thy power.
Crown thine ancient church’s story,
Bring the bud to glorious flower.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour.

Lo! the clouds of evil ’round us,
Hide thy brightness from our gaze
From the fears that long have bound us,
Free our hearts to faith and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the living of these days,
for the living of these days.

Cure thy children’s warring madness,
Teach us good and peaceful goals.
Shame our proud and selfish gladness,
Rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
In our seeking to be whole,
in our seeking to be whole.

Fill us with a living vision,
Heal our wounds that we may be
Bound as one beyond division In the journey to be free.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
Ears to hear and eyes to see,
ears to hear and eyes to see.

May 13 COVID Update

According to the CDC Alachua County residents have a low risk of serious illness from COVID-19 (the Green Zone). However, new cases and hospitalizations in the county continue to slowly rise. Masks are optional indoors for people with medical risks.

UCG is now following Endemic Response Guidelines which are based on the risk for serious disease and not the risk for transmissionWe will be using a color zone approach based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s revised focus on the risk for serious disease. When we are in the green zone, our gatherings at UCG will be mask-optional environments. There is a section of the Sanctuary with fewer chairs if you need more space for social distancing. Please note that UCG will continue broadcasting one Sunday worship service on YouTube. Current risk for Alachua County.
