Welcome New Members – Spring 2024

Left to Right: Ann Fiorelli and Rick Croley; Robert Chapman; Eric and Danielle Nelson

Rick Croley grew up in the Disciples of Christ conservative religious tradition and came to UCG with his wife, Ann Fiorelli, seeking a liberal church. For awhile he was at the Unitarian Church and Rev. Maureen Killoran was the minister. He is a physicist and works at the University of Florida.

Ann Fiorelli found UCG through Susan Cary’s “Spring Forward” small group and started attending women’s lunch regularly on Fridays shortly thereafter. Ann, from Connecticut by way of Dallas, specializes in market analysis. She says she was “not churched” (had no religious upbringing) and feels very comfortable at UCG.

Robert Chapman describes himself as “PKS” (Preacher’s Kid Spouse) because both his father and his former spouse were Methodist ministers. He moved to Gainesville with his brother in February 2024 from Daytona Beach to be closer to family. He joined UCG because of our Open and Affirming welcome to all.

Longtime visitors, Danielle and Eric Nelson were inspired to join UCG during our May 12 service, alongside daughter Lucia, who was confirmed and also joined that morning! Danielle (family medicine) and Eric (research and pediatric hospital medicine) have been integral members of our COVID Advisory Team since its inception in March 2020. They joined to further their commitment to the community that has welcomed them when they moved to Gainesville almost 8 years ago. They are especially fond of all the UCG artists whose work is displayed on their walls, thanks to Noodles and Doodles.
