September 7 – Back to School Seminar for Parents. The transition from summer to a new school year can be full of stress, chaos, and conflict for families. This seminar will explore ways to make this adjustment smoother and more connected and provide parents and caregivers with strategies for dealing with the adjustment more effectively. Karin Fields is a mental health professional who helps kids and families navigate life’s challenges.

September 14 – Money, Maintenance, and Mission. UCG Treasurer, Alan Hill, will present financial statements for the church’s combined revenue and expenses and its assets and liabilities. He’ll be joined by Interim/Transition Minister, Donna Schaper and others. We’ll start a conversation to imagine how we can meet the challenges of maintaining and improving our church campus while continuing our important missions in the world.

September 21 – Effects of Anti-LGBTQ+ Policies. Simone Chriss, Esq., Director of Transgender Rights Initiative, Southern Legal Counsel in Gainesville will discuss the anti-LGBTQ legislation, executive orders, and other laws/policies impacting our community at the state and federal level. She will also discuss her work with the Trans Rights Initiative at Southern Legal Counsel to combat the oppression of trans folks and attacks on the rights of the LGBTQ+ Community. She is the Recipient of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s “40 Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40” Award.

September 28 – Resilience for Immigrants: Know Your Rights. Veronica Robleto, the director of Rural Women’s Health Project (RWHP) and Gainesville Immigrant Neighbors Initiative (GINI) will be our guest speaker. Veronica will talk about the current situation in Florida facing our immigrant neighbors and what exactly are their rights. She’ll also talk about volunteer opportunities with her organization and other ways we can help. Join us for this important seminar.
