Dear UCGers,
We are stepping into September! Wow, where did the summer go? I want to thank everyone for their patience with the installation of the new HVAC units in the Sanctuary. They are up, cooling us, and are quieter! My parent’s room folx, please let me know if you hear the difference in there or not.
As we said so long to the ten-ton HVAC units, we then turned and said hello to another snafu in the youth room. We had a small drill hole finally get enough water from the rain and it brought down the ceiling in mid/late July. We worked with our solar company and the roofers and have repaired this leak. Some folx from the Campus Keepers and Tami met in the youth room and have started to make plans to remodel the space for our youth. Within a blink of my eyes, they have diligently removed furniture and started some minor demolition. Please pardon our dust and keep out of the youth room until it’s ready. If you’d like to help with this project, please email me at shannas@ucgainesville.org.
Onto another subject that has been on my mind lately (and on others) and that is the “who does what” on our staff. We are still working with Board of Human Resources, Board of Business and the ministers to revision current job descriptions and form new job descriptions to fill in those areas that Dar, Tami and I are covering currently. We will hopefully be communicating more on this with the congregation this fall. In the meantime, I have created some staff charts to help guide you on who to contact and set you up for a direct channel to that staff person. I encourage you to study these charts and if you would like a paper copy don’t hesitate to ask. These charts are also posted on the bulletin board between our two seminar rooms as you walk up to the Sanctuary.
I also encourage you to visit and gander at our newly updated website. If you find a typo, missing link, or any other strangeness in our neck of the internet, let us know! Here is the direct link to our staff page; https://ucgainesville.org/staff/.
Feeling the call of fall,
Shanna Swiers
